Cooktown and the surrounding areas provide plenty of entertainment for visitors. If you are keen on history, secluded beaches, exceptional rainforest, scenic coastal views, then the far northern reaches of the Wet Tropics are for you. The Scenic Rim Walk displays all aspects of the town's natural, historical and cultural delights.

The path is divided into nine fragments, each with a map, distance, and timetable. The walk features historically important sights, such as the Cooktown Cemetery as well as numerous natural attractions ranging from sand dunes and beaches to Mount Cook and Finch Bay.

The walk is well marked with interpretive signage. Guide brochures can also be obtained from the visitor centre. The walk was designed so that can be in its entirety undertaken in a full day, or depending on the visitors time and physical capability, embarked on in sections.

HOW TO GET THERE:
Cooktown is about four hours drive north of Cairns on sometimes rough roads. The various sections of the Cooktown Scenic Rim Walk can be easily reached on foot or by car from the town centre.
